What We Believe
The congregation at Hill Park hold to the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith that reflects the teachings of the Bible which is the ever relevant Word of God and is without error. Therefore:
- We believe in one God, the Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who are co-equal and co-eternal.
- We believe that since the Fall all men are sinful and guilty in the sight of a Holy God and so under His just wrath and condemnation.
- We believe that in His grace and love, God the Father sent God the Son into this world to secure salvation for those whom He chose.
- We believe that God the Son added to His full divinity a full humanity when in His virgin birth He became Jesus Christ. We believe in his sinless life that made it possible for Him to die on the cross as our substitute paying the price for our sin. We believe he rose bodily from the grave and ascended to heaven in triumph over sin, death, hell and Satan.
- We believe in the Holy Spirit as the Third Person of the Godhead who draws people to repentance and applies to them the benefits of Christ's death in the forgiveness of their sins.
- We believe that it is only through faith in Jesus Christ and his death for sin that man can be forgiven. This salvation is freely given by God's grace and not earned by any human works.
- We believe that Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return to this world as the Judge of all men. He will separate men into the saved and the lost. The saved will be with Him in the eternal happiness of Heaven whilst the lost will be condemned to eternal punishment in hell.
